The strength of nanotype is based on four columns: on strong scientific foundation, on extensive experience in this industry, on pronounced pioneer spirit and on the team spirit of the founders:

Professor Dr. Hermann Gaub is a prominent scientist of Munich University, who on the one hand has already created bases of nanotechnology for some years with his work on molecular force analysis and on the other hand has already over ten-year experience in founding companies in the area of bio instrumentation.

Professor Boris Steipe, M.D., Ph.D., is a physician by training and a molecular biologist by passion. He cofounded nanotype when he was a researcher at the Gene Center of Munich University. Prof. Steipe has recently moved to the University of Toronto, Canada, where he is professor in the Department of Biochemistry and the Program for Proteomics and Bioinformatics; he holds a cross-appointment to the Department of Medical Genetics and Microbiology. His research bridges theoretical and applied biomolecular engineering. His role within nanotype is to contribute his experience in the key enabling technologies of protein engineering, as well as to provide new perspectives on post-genomic biology and molecular medicine, from one of the worlds most active academic centres in this field.

Dr. Gunnar Brink is a biophysicist and experienced start-up manager. He founded BioTuL AG and led this company from its start in 1997 until August 1999.

Filipp Oesterhelt recently completed his Ph.D. thesis with an outstanding number of publications in international reviewed science journals. He will transfer the nanomechanic technology from the Gaub chair into nanotype and will further develop it.

Martin Benoit also completed his Ph.D. at the Gaub chair and now holds a permanent position there.

Christian Albrecht started his professional career in the trainee program of BioTuL. He specialized in project management and took several courses in project management and business development. He is serving as molecular biologist and project manager at nanotype.
